Solo CD Premiere!

An unusual combination of baroque pieces based on traditional folk songs, paired with traditional Irish and Scottish folk sets from the inns of the 18th century and the pubs of today:

Francesco Geminiani: Variations on Scottish Folk Songs

J.C. Fischer: Variations on the Irish air “Gramachree Molly”

Alexander Munro: Sonata on “Fy Gar Rub Her O'er Wi' Straw”

and much more!

This premier solo disc brings together two musical worlds on one CD. Together with lutenist Axel Wolf and harpsichordist Eckhart Kuper, Brian Berryman affords us a glimpse into the versatility of the historical wooden flute from both ends of the social ladder, sometimes elegant, sometimes rough, sometimes courtly and sometimes firy, and occasionally all of the above, at once!
